Plongée marine à St Barth
Want to go scuba diving in St. Barts while enjoying your luxury villa? Saint Barth VIP, our real estate site in Saint Barthélemy, tells you where to grab your fins, mask, and snorkel to explore the island’s underwater treasures.
The Marine Reserve
Created in the mid-90s, the Saint Barthélemy Marine Reserve offers rich flora and fauna in a paradise setting suitable for both beginners and experts. Humpback whales, rays, reef sharks, colorful fish, and turtles—St. Barts’ underwater world will amaze you! Beginners will especially enjoy the clear, shallow waters.
Diving in Saint Barthélemy is regulated to protect the seabed. You can’t dive everywhere, and gloves are prohibited, as is touching marine life.
Sites are less than 30 minutes by boat from Gustavia harbor. Wherever you stay on the island, you’re close enough to dive whenever the mood strikes. Our dream villas all offer access to the coast, so you can be in the water in no time.
Dive Trips in Northern St. Barts
From your villa in Colombier, you can head to the most beautiful beach in St. Barts: Colombier Bay. This dive site is for experienced divers due to strong currents, where you might spot turtles, rays, and barracuda.
Facing the Atlantic, Toc Vers is a cluster of islands within the marine reserve, offering caves and tunnels to explore.
If you’re visiting between February and May, head northeast to Marigot Bay and Pointe Mangin. This protected area gives you the rare chance to see whales and dolphins. Saint Barth VIP also offers villas in Marigot, fully equipped with infinity pools.
Dive Trips in Western St. Barts
To the west of Saint Barthélemy, you’ll find coral reefs of remarkable beauty. The Gros Îlets are perfect for freediving, with colorful fish and soft corals.
If shipwrecks fascinate you, dive behind Pain de Sucre, where you’ll find the wreck of the Kayali. Access is restricted to PE-40 certified divers. Many say it’s the island’s most stunning wreck.
You can also rent a villa near Gustavia harbor to enjoy the convenience of town while staying close to dive sites.
Dive Trips in Southern St. Barts
In the south, you may hear the songs of whales at Roche Roube. Even if you don’t encounter them during your stay, you’ll still enjoy views of turtles and reef sharks.
